Hello my name is Jacob and I’m a addict. My clean date is May 2, 2012.
As I approach ten years of sobriety I am compelled by and confident in my recovery journey to begin to share my life’s experiences. My personal perception of my childhood, of active addiction, the depths and heights my addiction would take me to. Stories of Faith found in Christ and a rebirth as a person with integrity. I present the image not as a person who just used drugs and became sober, but of the person who found closure and acceptance through Christ. The ability to forgive others as God forgave me. By working the steps, recovery became possible. That I am not a victim but a VICTOR. Abused, Neglected, and abandoned as a child. I did not get a choice for my life. Set on a path of destruction by my predecessors, I wish to show the error in the situations and highlight how things were and were it led me to. Choices made for me and by me, for those of us who suffer the disease of addiction, the use of drugs or Alchohol, among many other traits are merely symptoms of the under lying problems.
When reading through these pages I would like you to keep in mind that this is a continuing, on going process because recovery is never finished. As incomplete as it may seem, the story will blossom and paint a vivid picture. As I continue to work through the steps and work on my recovery I will continue to contribute to the blog until that full picture is created. If you wish to stay updated on my latest post, please subscribe. There is a email bot that’s gonna send that latest article right to your inbox.
As I go over my step work again, taking the inventory as we all should, more will be told. New perspectives will be found and revealed through my own spiritual growth. Writing out my story, publishing writings from my recovery journey, and including other opinion pieces is my way of carrying the message. As with everything in recovery, anonymity is our responsibility and as so I will do everything to protect the identities of anyone that graces these pages. If you are a part of my story, good, bad, or indifferent your secrets are safe. Practicing step 9 in all my affairs both in writing and in life.
There is no order, and I apologize for that. I have had many people message and ask if there is a order to them and its more of as it comes out. There is a lot of trauma and pain in my past. Things perpetuated on to myself by those around me and perpetuated onto others by my own actions. Both good and bad memories to share that are hard to translate to a readable story of my life. I have about 2 dozen current drafts at the time of publishing this that all talk and discuss my past, all including different stages of my life. In the future more current time contributions will be made. There is also a link to our YouTube channel(Top right corner drop down menu-Harpers Playground-see link) where you can check out the whole Constien family and see what were up to.
